The regional champions from the Algarve, Lisbon, Madeira, Porto FAs were invited to take part in this newly formed tournament. Due to organizational and financial problems, the Algarve and Madeira FAs could not participate and, thus, the competition only fixtured two teams: the Lisbon champions, Sporting CP; and the Porto champions, FC Porto. The winner of the inaugural Campeonato de Portugal was determined by a 'best-of-three' series. Porto won the first game 2–1 which was held at the Campo da Constituição.[1] Sporting CP won the second match 2–0 which would force both sides to a third game where Porto won the game 3–1 to clinch the first Campeonato de Portugal.[2][3][4] Final{{Infobox football match| title = 1922 Campeonato de Portugal Final | image = | event = Campeonato de Portugal | team1 = Porto | team1association = | team1score = 3 | team2 = Sporting CP | team2association = | team2score = 1 | details = The final was taken to a third game, after each side had won one game a piece. | firstleg = First game | team1score1 = 2 | team2score1 = 1 | details1 = | date1 = 4 June 1922 | stadium1 = Campo da Constituição | city1 = Porto | man_of_the_match1a = | man_of_the_match1atitle = | man_of_the_match1b = | man_of_the_match1btitle = | referee1 = Merick Barley (England)[5] | attendance1 = | weather1 = | secondleg = Second game | team1score2 = 0 | team2score2 = 2 | details2 = | date2 = 11 June 1922 | stadium2 = Estádio do Campo Grande | city2 = Lisbon | man_of_the_match2a = | man_of_the_match2atitle = | man_of_the_match2b = | man_of_the_match2btitle = | referee2 = Ezequiel Montero (Spain)[6] | attendance2 = | weather2 = | previous = | next = 1923 }} The 1922 Campeonato de Portugal Final was the final match of the 1922 Campeonato de Portugal, the 1st season of the Campeonato de Portugal, the Portuguese football knockout tournament, organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).
