词条 | 1973 Edinburgh North by-election |
释义 |
A by-election for the UK Parliament took place in Edinburgh North on 8 November 1973. Alexander Fletcher held the seat for the Conservatives, after his predecessor became Duke of Buccleuch. One of four UK parliamentary by-elections taking place that day, and one of two in Scotland, it was overshadowed by the surprising SNP win in Glasgow Govan. {{Election box begin | title=Edinburgh North by-election, 1973[1]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Conservative Party (UK) |candidate = Alexander Fletcher |votes = 7,208 |percentage = 38.69 |change = -14.16 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Labour Party (UK) |candidate = Robert Cairns |votes = 4,467 |percentage = 23.98 |change = -13.11 }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Scottish National Party |candidate = William Wolfe |votes = 3,526 |percentage = 19.11 |change = N/A }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Liberal Party (UK) |candidate = Ronald Guild |votes = 3,431 |percentage = 18.42 |change = +8.36 }}{{Election box majority| |votes = 2,741 |percentage = 14.71 |change = -1.05 }}{{Election box turnout| |votes = 18,632 |percentage = |change = }}{{Election box hold with party link| |winner = Conservative Party (UK) |swing = }}{{election box end}} References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://by-elections.co.uk/73.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120314034602/http://by-elections.co.uk/73.html|title=1973 By Election Results|archive-date=2012-03-14|dead-url=yes|access-date=2015-09-17}} See also
