释义 |
A by-election was held in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland seat of Archerfield on 19 May 1984. It was triggered by the death of sitting Labor member Kevin Hooper on 9 March 1984. The seat was retained by the Labor Party with the election of candidate Henry Palaszczuk.[1] The only surprise in the result was the relatively strong showing of the Liberal Party compared to the National Party. Both the Labor and National parties had problems during the campaign, the former with factional feuding over candidate selection, and the Nationals with a candidate who seemed unsure whether his loyalties were to his own party or to Labor.[1] Results{{Election box begin | title=Archerfield state by-election, 1984[2]}}{{Election box candidate AU party|party = Labor QLD |candidate = Henry Palaszczuk |votes = 8,641 |percentage = 61.51 |change = –10.12 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Liberal QLD |candidate = John Shea |votes = 2,173 |percentage = 15.47 |change = +15.47 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Nationals QLD |candidate = Doug Jackson |votes = 1,796 |percentage = 12.78 |change = –15.59 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Democrats |candidate = David Adams |votes = 748 |percentage = 5.32 |change = +5.32 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Bruce Parmenter |votes = 456 |percentage = 3.25 |change = +3.25 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Mervyn Clarkson |votes = 93 |percentage = 0.66 |change = +0.66 }}{{Election box candidate AU party |party = Independent |candidate = Norman Eather |votes = 31 |percentage = 0.22 |change = +0.22 }}{{Election box formal |votes = 14,049 |percentage = 96.54 |change = +0.39 }}{{Election box informal |votes = 503 |percentage = 3.46 |change = –0.39 }}{{Election box turnout |votes = 14,552 |percentage = 82.39 |change = –8.80 }}{{Election box hold AU party |winner = Labor QLD |swing = N/A }}{{Election box end}} See also
