[1]He is the senior author of C News, a protocol-neutral news transport, and the designer of NOV, the News Overview database (article index) used by all modern newsreaders. [2][3][4]He contributed the code that allowed to convert the Bourne Shell from using the non-portable sbrk() to a portable malloc() based implementation.[5] [6][7]In the past he worked as a Unix system programmer, but since 1994 he has been living on Plan 9. [8]The asteroid 129101 Geoffcollyer is named in his honor. [9]References1. ^http://www.collyer.net/who/geoff/ Geoff Collyers Homepage with publications 2. ^Geoff Collyer and Henry Spencer (1987).
