The games were played between 12 February and 13 March, with the first match being between {{AFL WCE}} and {{AFL Ess}} at Subiaco Oval. It was the last pre-season competition held in the current knockout format due to the entry of the Gold Coast Football Club into the AFL in 2011.[1] For the first time, a game was held at Blacktown Olympic Park as part of the AFL's plan to increase the profile of Australian rules football in the Western Sydney Region before the introduction of the new Greater Western Sydney Giants in 2012. The game was played between {{AFL Syd}} and {{AFL Car}}.[2] GamesThe first round fixtures were announced by the AFL on 27 October 2009.[3][4] First round{{AFLGameHeader|title=First Round}}{{AFLGame|Friday, 12 February 5:40pm|{{AFL WCE}}|1.16.12 (117)|H|{{AFL Ess}}|0.12.10 (82) |Subiaco Oval|23,860|Report}}{{AFLGame|Saturday, 13 February 4:10pm|{{AFL Ade}}|1.8.10 (67) |A|{{AFL Por}}|2.15.15 (123) |AAMI Stadium|14,663|Report}}{{AFLGame|Saturday, 13 February 7:40pm|{{AFL Haw}}|3.16.12 (135) |H|{{AFL Ric}}|0.9.8 (62) |Aurora Stadium|11,217|Report}}{{AFLGame|Sunday, 14 February 4:40pm|{{AFL Wes}}|1.5.14 (53) |H|{{AFL Bri}}|1.5.6 (45) |Manuka Oval|3,707|Report}}{{AFLGame|Friday, 19 February 7:40pm|{{AFL StK}}|2.13.4 (100) |H|{{AFL Col}}|1.13.12 (99) |Etihad Stadium|29,801|Report }}{{AFLGame|Saturday, 20 February 7:40pm|{{AFL Syd}}|2.7.11 (71) |H|{{AFL Car}}|0.8.11 (59) |Blacktown Olympic Park|9,732|Report }}{{AFLGame|Sunday, 21 February 4:40pm|{{AFL Gee}}|2.10.3 (81) |A|{{AFL Nor}}|2.11.11 (95) |Etihad Stadium|12,989|Report }}{{AFLGame|Sunday, 21 February 5:40pm|{{AFL Fre}}|1.13.10 (97) |H|{{AFL Mel}}|2.4.8 (50) |Subiaco Oval|11,031|Report}}{{AFLGameFooter|notes= Quarter-finals{{AFLGameHeader|title=Quarter-finals}}{{AFLGame|Friday 26 February 7:40pm |{{AFL Haw}}|0.7.12 (54) |A|{{AFL Wes}}|1.15.12 (111) |Etihad Stadium|17,222| Report}}{{AFLGame|Saturday 27 February 7:10pm |{{AFL StK}}|2.9.7 (79) |H|{{AFL Syd}}|0.12.6 (78) |Etihad Stadium|10,998| Report }}{{AFLGame|Saturday 27 February 5:40pm |{{AFL WCE}}|2.8.14 (80) |A| {{AFL Por}}| 4.19.8 (158) |Subiaco Oval|16,231| Report }}{{AFLGame|Sunday 28 February 5:10pm |{{AFL Nor}}|0.13.12 (90) |A|{{AFL Fre}}|1.12.13 (94) |Etihad Stadium|7,877| Report }}{{AFLGameFooter|notes=}} Semi-finals{{AFLGameHeader|title=Semi-finals}}{{AFLGame|Friday 5 March 7:40pm |{{AFL WB}}|1.11.17 (92) |H| {{AFL PA}}|1.12.8 (89) |Etihad Stadium|10,531|}}{{AFLGame|Saturday 6 March 7:10pm |{{AFL StK}}|2.15.7 (115) |H| {{AFL Fre}}|2.3.9 (45) |Etihad Stadium|5,241|}}{{AFLGameFooter|notes=
