The station was opened on July 14, 1994, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. As part of the Gold Line, it has service to Downtown Sacramento, California State University, Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Gold River and Folsom. The station is located near the intersection of 48th Street and Highway 50. Included originally as part of the network, both this and the 39th Street station were deferred and not constructed in 1987 due to intense neighborhood opposition.[2] However, both would open as infill stations in July 1994 due to a shift in attitude towards the rail project following its successful opening from the surrounding neighborhoods.[2] Platforms and tracks{{ja-rail-line|first=2|pfn=Westbound|nidx=Gold Line|col=#{{SRTD color|Gold}}|dir=toward Sacramento Valley (39th Street)}}{{ja-rail-line|first=3|pfn=Eastbound|nidx=Gold Line|col=#{{SRTD color|Gold}}|dir=toward Historic Folsom (59th Street)}}References1. ^{{cite news |first=Steve |last=Gibson |work=Sacramento Bee |page =B4 |title=Two light rail stations open |date=July 15, 1994}} {{Sacramento RT}}{{US-tram-stub}}{{California-railstation-stub}}{{SacramentoCA-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite news |first=Rick |last=Martinez |work=The Sacramento Bee |page =N3 |title=East Sac set to jump aboard light rail |date=June 3, 1993}} 2 : Sacramento Regional Transit light rail stations|Railway stations opened in 1994 |
