The 748th Bombardment Squadron is an inactive United States Army Air Forces unit. It was last assigned to the 457th Bombardment Group, stationed at Sioux Falls Army Air Field, South Dakota. It was inactivated on 28 August 1945.

History

Established as a B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bomber squadron, it trained under Second Air Force. Deployed to England in late 1943, assigned to VIII Bomber Command. Engaged in strategic bombardment campaign of Nazi Germany and Occupied Europe, 1944–1945, personnel demobilized in the United Kingdom and returned to the United States. The squadron was reassigned to Second Air Force and programmed for B-29 Superfortress training. No personnel or aircraft were assigned as a result of the end of war with Japan. It was inactivated in August 1945.
