It is located in the northeast of the republic on the bank of the Izh River. The area of the district is {{convert|1796.6|km2|sp=us}}.[3] Its administrative center is the town of Agryz.[4] Population: {{ru-census2010|36,626|;}} 36,848 (2002 Census);[5] {{su-census1989|39,336|.}} The population of Agryz accounts for 52.7% of the district's total population.
