Udvar-Házy.[1] Air Lease purchases new commercial aircraft through direct orders from Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and ATR, and leases them to its airline customers worldwide through specialized aircraft leasing and financing. At the end of 2017, Air Lease reported that it owns 244 Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and ATR aircraft, which it leases to over 91 airlines across 55 countries in every major geographical region in the world.[2] Air Lease provides airlines with net operating leases, which require the lessee to pay for maintenance, insurance, taxes and all other aircraft operating expenses during the lease term. [2] {{As of|2018|8}}, Air Lease owns 271 aircraft, 38.9% of which are Boeing 737-800s, and had 391 aircraft on order.[3]HistorySteven Udvar-Házy, chairman and chief executive of Air Lease, was a founder of Century City aircraft leasing giant International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) and stayed on as chief executive after it was sold to American International Group (AIG) in 1990.[4] Udvar-Házy left ILFC to start Air Lease in 2010 following a dispute with AIG.[5]Udvar-Házy started Air Lease in February 2010 with former ILFC chief operating officer John Plueger, who has the same role at the new company. On April 19, 2011, AL had an initial public offering of Class A stock on the New York Stock Exchange, and raised an estimated total of US$ 965.6 million. Udvar-Hazy, estimated by Forbes in 2015 to have a net worth of $3.7 billion, has a 7 percent stake.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Bloomberg profile|url=https://www.bloomberg.com/profiles/companies/AL:US-air-lease-corp|website=Bloomberg.com|accessdate=20 May 2015}} 2. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite web|title=Annual report |url=https://www.airleasecorp.com/files/documents/AirLeaseCorporation2017AnnualReport_bmk.pdf }} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.airleasecorp.com/files/documents/alc_q2_18_press_release.PDF|title=Air Lease Corporation Announces Second Quarter 2018 Results}} 4. ^{{cite news| date=10 May 2007| url=https://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/10/business/10flyboy.html| title=The Real Owner of All Those Planes| author=Leslie Wayne| work=The New York Times | publisher=NYTimes.com| accessdate=2007-05-10}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Jet-Lease Billionaire Udvar-Hazy Takes On AIG Hand That Fed Him| author=Seth Lubove|url=https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2012-10-04/jet-lease-billionaire-udvar-hazy-takes-on-aig-hand-that-fed-him|accessdate=20 May 2015|agency=Bloomberg Business|date=2012-10-04}} 6. ^{{cite news| title=Steven Udvar-Hazy| url=https://www.forbes.com/profile/steven-udvar-hazy| work=Forbes-World's Billionaires| publisher=forbes.com| date=9 March 2011| accessdate=2011-04-27}} }} External links{{Portal|Companies}}
