It is located in the south of the republic. The area of the district is {{convert|1440.1|km2|sp=us}}.[3] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Aksubayevo.[4] Population: {{ru-census2010|32,161|;}} 33,154 (2002 Census);[5] {{su-census1989|32,664|.}} The population of Aksubayevo accounts for 31.1% of the district's total population.
