Personal lifeUlrey married Florence Katherine Speicher (1883-1966) on 15 November 1900.[2] CareerHe was the first biology instructor at Manchester University in Indiana, joining the faculty in 1894,[3] and also the University of Southern California’s first marine biologist, hired in 1901.[4] He ultimately became the Director of the Marine Biological Station of the University of Southern California. Fish named for himThe Hyphessobrycon ulreyi is named after him.[5] Publications
