Allentown is {{convert|2.5|mi|km}} northwest of Mackinaw. HistoryA post office was established at Allentown in 1879, and remained in operation until the 1950s.[2] The community derives its name from one James Allen.[3] Allentown was formerly a station of the Illinois Terminal Railroad interurban system.
