The lake is located {{convert|60|km|mi}} north of Gonbad-e Qabus. The population of catfish (Silurus glanis) in the lake has drastically decreased because of increasing population growth among the villagers. The biggest catfish caught in the lake was reported to be around {{convert|30|kg|lb}}.
