Subbramanian was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate from Tirunelveli constituency in 1967,[2] 1989[3] and 1996 elections.[4] Subramanian died, aged 73, on 26 October 2012. He was survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.[5] One of his sons, A. L. S.
