Amasia was the capital of the former Raion of Amasia. The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (ARMSTAT) reported its population was 2,218 in 2010,[1] up from 1,878 at the 2001 census.[2] PopulationAccording to "Caucasian Calendar" of 1912, 528 people, mainly Azerbaijanis mentioned as Karapapaks, lived in village Amasia of Kars Okrug of Kars Oblast.[3] Population per years is the following.[4]
