The newspaper is operated by Rabbi's wife, Shamsun Nehar Rabbi,[5] and son, Bakin Rabbi, who is the printer, publisher and editor-in-chief.[3] Cumilla marketAlthough the Weekly Amod has faced competition from other weeklies, Mohammed Fazle Rabbi believed his first serious competitor was Cumilla's first daily newspaper Rupashi Bangla, which started in 1979.[7] Recognition within AsiaWeekly Amod was recognized in 1985 by UNESCO after three decades of publishing news.[7][3] The Amod continues to remain competitive. Crispin C. Maslog in the book 5 Successful Asian Community Newspapers writes, "Amod continues to be the leading community newspaper in Comilla because it has been a steady, reliable source of information and the mouthpiece for community opinion in the past three decades."[6] Others say it is the long run of the newspaper that has given it a special authority within the Comilla community.[7]Notes1. ^{{cite book|title=Benn's Media Directory: International |volume=135-136 |publisher=Benn Business Information Services |year=1988 |page=420 |url=https://books.google.com/books?ei=q76vUYGHFYHoPNWUgNAC&id=bqUxAQAAIAAJ&dq}} 2. ^{{cite book|first=Shelton A. |last=Gunaratne |title=Handbook of the media in Asia |publisher=Sage Publications |year=2000 |page=52 |isbn=0761994270 |url=https://books.google.com/books?isbn=0761994270}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite news|url=http://www.weeklyamod.com/fstpage/about.php |title=About Us|work=Amod |publisher=www.weeklyamod.com |accessdate=2009-08-03}} 4. ^{{cite book|author= Bangladesh, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Establishment Division |title=Bangladesh District Gazetteers |volume=14 |publisher=Bangladesh Government Press |year=1977 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=twZuAAAAMAAJ&q}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Bangladesh: Women's Day observed |publisher=Right Vision News |date=March 13, 2010 |location=Comilla}} 6. ^1 2 {{cite book|first=Crispin C. |last=Maslog |title=5 Successful Asian Community Newspapers |publisher=United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Asian Mass Communication Research and Information Centre |year=1985 |pages=2–4 |url=https://books.google.com/books?isbn=9971905213}} 7. ^{{cite book|title=Presentations, South and South-East Asia Media {{sic|Assmebly|nolink=y}} for people-to-people understanding |publisher=National Media Centre |year=1989 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=81piAAAAMAAJ}} 5 : Bengali-language newspapers|Newspapers published in Bangladesh|1955 establishments in Pakistan|Media in Comilla|Newspapers published in Comilla |
