The population was 556 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population density was {{convert|2417.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 233 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1013.0|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 92.3% White, 0.9% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.9% Asian, 4.0% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.5% of the population. There were 207 households of which 40.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were married couples living together, 16.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 25.6% were non-families. 19.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 2.97. The median age in the city was 34.4 years. 28.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.8% were from 25 to 44; 26% were from 45 to 64; and 11% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.3% male and 52.7% female. 2000 censusAs of the census[8] of 2000, there were 600 people, 204 households, and 157 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,093.0 people per square mile (1,219.3/km²). There were 216 housing units at an average density of 1,113.5 per square mile (438.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.83% White, 0.50% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.50% Pacific Islander, 4.00% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.33% of the population. There were 204 households out of which 44.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 14.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% were non-families. 18.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.94 and the average family size was 3.28. 32.0% were under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.0 males. The median income for a household in the city was $37,625, and the median income for a family was $38,500. Males had a median income of $35,682 versus $20,417 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,152. About 7.5% of families and 10.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.5% of those under age 18 and 11.1% of those age 65 or over.
