{{Infobox_gene}}N-terminal EF-hand calcium-binding protein 3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NECAB3 gene.[1][2]The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the amino-terminal domain of the neuron-specific X11-like protein (X11L), inhibits the association of X11L with amyloid precursor protein through a non-competitive mechanism, and abolishes the suppression of beta-amyloid production by X11L. This protein, together with X11L, may play an important role in the regulatory system of amyloid precursor protein metabolism and beta-amyloid generation. This gene consists of at least 13 exons and its alternative splicing generates at least 2 transcript variants.[2] References1. ^{{cite journal |vauthors=Lee DS, Tomita S, Kirino Y, Suzuki T | title = Regulation of X11L-dependent amyloid precursor protein metabolism by XB51, a novel X11L-binding protein | journal = J Biol Chem | volume = 275 | issue = 30 | pages = 23134–8 |date=Aug 2000 | pmid = 10833507 | pmc = | doi = 10.1074/jbc.C000302200 }} 2. ^1 {{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: APBA2BP amyloid beta (A4) precursor protein-binding, family A, member 2 binding protein| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=63941| accessdate = }}
