| Ship notes= }} | The Arabe-class destroyers was a group of twelve destroyers built for the French Navy during the First World War. All the ships were built in Japan, as an export version of the {{sclass-|Kaba|destroyer|4}}, and were named after ethnic groups within the French Empire at the time.[1] Design and descriptionThe French Navy ordered the Arabe-class ships from Japan as it was in desperate need of additional destroyers and there was no capacity to build more in France, Great Britain or the United States. They had an overall length of {{convert|82.26|m|ftin|sp=us}}, a length between perpendiculars of {{convert|79.4|m|ftin|sp=us}} a beam of {{convert|7.33|m|ftin|sp=us}}, and a draft of {{convert|2.39|m|ftin|sp=us}}.[2] The ships displaced {{convert|865|t|LT|sp=us}} at normal load.[3] They were powered by three vertical triple-expansion steam engines, each driving one propeller shaft, using steam provided by four mixed-firing Kampon Yarrow-type boilers. The engines were designed to produce {{convert|10000|PS|kW shp|lk=on|sp=us}}, which would propel the ships at {{convert|29|kn|lk=in}}. During their sea trials, the Arabe class reached {{convert|29.16|-|30.44|kn}}.[4] The ships carried {{convert|102|t|LT|0|sp=us}} and {{convert|118|t|LT|0|sp=us}} of fuel oil which gave them a range of {{convert|2000|nmi|lk=in}} at {{convert|12|kn}}.[5] Their crew consisted of 5 officers and 104 crewmen.[6] The main armament of the Arabe-class ships was a single Type 41 {{convert|12|cm|adj=on|sp=us}} gun, mounted before the bridge on the forecastle. Their secondary armament consisted of four Type 41 {{convert|76|mm|adj=on|sp=us}} guns in single mounts; two of these were positioned abreast the middle funnel and the others were on the centerline further aft. One of these latter guns was on a high-angle mount and served as an anti-aircraft gun. The ships carried two above-water twin mounts for {{convert|450|mm|in|adj=on|sp=us|1}} torpedo tubes. In 1917–18, a rack for eight {{convert|75|kg|sp=us|adj=on}} depth charges was added.[7] Ships- {{ship|French destroyer|Algérien||2}} — launched 1917, struck 1936.
