From 1986 to 1994 it acquired various plastics industry holdings. In 1987 it was acquired by the equity firm Trivest, which soon spun Atlantis off as a public company but retained an ownership stake.[3] Atlantis is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and has facilities in fifteen locations within ten U.S. states (Arkansas, California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas).[4] Atlantis has three business segments: Plastic Films for wrapping pallets of materials, Injection Molding for parts used in products such as appliances and recreational vehicles and Plastics Extrusion used in products such as residential siding.[5] The corporation earned $43.6 million in 2005 and $29.0 million in 2006, on sales of $424.3 and $418.7 million, respectively. The downturn was attributed to the slump in the housing sector.[2] In 2008, Atlantis Plastics agreed to delist from NASDAQ and move to Pink Sheets following disclosure that the company was not in compliance with the minimum bid price requirement.[6] Shooting{{main|Atlantis Plastics shooting}}On June 25, 2008 at the 160-employee[7] injection molding manufacturing facility in Henderson, Kentucky, six workers were killed and another was injured in a workplace shooting.[8] Among the dead was the gunman, who reportedly retrieved the gun from his car after getting into a dispute with a co-worker and being told to go home by supervisor. The gunman shot the supervisor then opened fire in a break room, and ended the shooting spree by killing himself.[9] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.atlantisplastics.com/ |title=Atlantis Plastics |accessdate=2008-06-25 |publisher=Atlantis Plastics, Inc. }} 2. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://www.atlantisplastics.com/InvestorRelations/docs/Annual-Report-2006.pdf |title=Atlantis Plastics 2006 Annual Report |accessdate=2008-06-25 |publisher=Atlantis Plastics, Inc. }} 3. ^{{cite journal|title=Trivest Expands Atlantis Plastics|journal=BuyOuts|date=2000-12-18|author=Green, Leslie}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.atlantisplastics.com/facilities.htm |title=Atlantis Plastics Facility Locations |accessdate=2008-06-25 |publisher=Atlantis Plastics, Inc. }} 5. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.atlantisplastics.com/aboutus.htm |title=About Atlantis Plastics |accessdate=2008-06-25 |publisher=Atlantis Plastics, Inc. }} 6. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.forbes.com/markets/feeds/afx/2008/03/07/afx4745159.html|title=Atlantis Plastics to delist shares from NASDAQ|publisher=Forbes|date=2008-03-07}} 7. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.atlantisplastics.com/InvestorRelations/docs/Press-rel-2008-06-25.pdf |title=Company News |accessdate=2008-06-30 |last=Ebbitt |first=Michelle |date=2008-06-25 |work=Atlantis Plastics press releases |publisher=Atlantis Plastics, Inc. }} 8. ^{{cite news |first=Graham |last=Bowley |title=5 Killed in Kentucky Plant Shooting |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/25/us/26kentuckycnd.html?hp |work=nytimes.com |publisher=The New York Times Company |date=2008-06-25 |accessdate=2008-06-25 }} 9. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080625/NEWS01/80625001/1008|title=Sixth person confirmed dead in Henderson factory shootings|publisher=Courier-Journal|author=Lenz, Ryan|date=2008-06-25}} 4 : Manufacturing companies based in Atlanta|Companies traded over-the-counter in the United States|Plastics companies|Corporate spin-offs |
