词条 | Australian Fossil Mammal Sites (Riversleigh / Naracoorte) |
释义 |
The UNESCO listing is for two separate areas where fossils from the Cainozoic era have been found:[1]
Riversleigh and Naracoorte are considered to be among the world’s 10 greatest fossil sites and both locations are notable for the extreme diversity and quality of preservation of their fossils, which illustrate the evolution of mammals in Australia over the last 20 million years and demonstrate how marsupials adapted to climate changes over the last 170,000 years.[2] The Australian Fossil Mammal Sites (Riversleigh/Naracoorte) was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994[1] for its outstanding universal value, and was added to the Australian National Heritage List on 21 May 2007, as a collective area of outstanding value for Australia.[2] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/698|title=Australian Fossil Mammal Sites (Riversleigh / Naracoorte)|publisher=UNESCO World Heritage Centre|accessdate=17 May 2015}} {{World Heritage Sites in Australia}}{{Australia-geology-stub}}2. ^1 {{Cite web|url=https://www.environment.gov.au/heritage/places/world/australian-fossil-mammal-sites|title=World Heritage Places – Australian Fossil Mammal Sites|publisher=Department of the Environment and Energy|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20171120064505/https://www.environment.gov.au/heritage/places/world/australian-fossil-mammal-sites|archive-date=20 November 2017|dead-url=no|access-date=14 November 2017}} 3 : World Heritage Sites in Australia|Cenozoic paleontological sites of Australia|Australian National Heritage List |
