It is operated by JR Shikoku and has the station number "Y50".[1][2] LinesThe station is served by the JR Shikoku Yosan Line and is located 180.3 km from the beginning of the line at {{STN|Takamatsu|Kagawa}}.[3] Only Yosan Line local trains stop at the station and they only serve the sector between {{STN|Iyo-Saijō}} and {{STN|Matsuyama|Ehime}}. Connections with other local or limited express trains are needed to travel further east or west along the line.[2] LayoutThe station, which is unstaffed, consists of two opposed side platforms serving two tracks. A modern brickwork building serves as a waiting room and also houses an automatic ticket vending machine. Access to the opposite side platform is by means of a footbridge.[3][4][5][6] {{J-railservice start}}{{J-route|route=Yosan Line|col=orange|f=w}}{{J-rserv|service=Local|previous={{STN|Yanagihara|Ehime}}|next={{STN|Kōyōdai}}|}}{{S-end}}HistoryThe station opened on 3 April 1927 as an intermediate stop when the then Sanyo Line was extended from {{STN|Iyo-Hōjō}} to {{STN|Matsuyama|Ehime}}. At that time the station was operated by Japanese Government Railways, later becoming Japanese National Railways (JNR). With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku.[7][8] See also
