It connects Noordoewer on the South African border with Oshikango in the north on the Angolan border. Important cities it passes through in a North-South direction include Oshikango, Ondangwa, Tsumeb, Otavi, Otjiwarongo, Okahandja, Windhoek, Rehoboth, Mariental, Keetmanshoop and Noordoewer. B1 is also one of the most dangerous Namibian roads with many traffic accidents and many fatalities in them. The section between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo is particularly deadly.[1] In 2007 the B1 lent its name to the B1 Butcher, a serial killer who professionally dismembered his victims and deposited body parts of at least five women near the road.[2] The murderer has never been identified.[3] GalleryReferences1. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.namibian.com.na/54054/read/178km-stretch-of-death|title=178km stretch of death|last=Shapwanale|first=Ndapewoshali|date=3 May 2017|page=1|newspaper=The Namibian}} {{Namibia-stub}}{{Highways of Namibia}}2. ^Body-parts find sparks hope in murder case IOL News 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.namibian.com.na/index.php?id=28&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=42633&no_cache=1|title=B-1 Butcher: DNA evidence in spotlight|last=Menges|first=Werner|date=29 April 2008|work=The Namibian}} 1 : Roads in Namibia |
