The bridge is on top of Jamsu Bridge, forming the upper half of a double-deck bridge; it is the first double deck bridge built in South Korea.[4] During periods of high rainfall, the Jamsu Bridge is designed to submerge as the water level of the river rises, as the lower deck lies close to the waterline. The bridge was built as a girder bridge and was completed in 1982.[5] Moonlight Rainbow FountainThe Moonlight Rainbow Fountain (Korean: 달빛무지개 분수) is the world's longest bridge fountain[6] that set a Guinness World Record with nearly 10,000 LED nozzles that run along both sides that is 1,140m long, shooting out 190 tons of water per minute. Installed in September 2009 on the Banpo Bridge, former mayor of Seoul Oh Se-hoon declared that the bridge will further beautify the city and showcase Seoul's eco-friendliness, as the water is pumped directly from the river itself and continuously recycled. The bridge has 38 water pumps and 380 nozzles on either side, which draw 190 tons of water per minute from the river 20 meters below the deck, and shoots as far as 43 meters horizontally.[7] The bridge, also puts on lights with the water References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.doopedia.co.kr/doopedia/master/master.do?_method=view&MAS_IDX=101013000843201|script-title=ko:반포대교[盤浦大橋]|work=Doopedia|publisher=Doopedia|language=Korean|accessdate=1 January 2014}} {{Bridges in Asia|South Korea}}{{Han River bridges}}{{commonscat|Banpo Bridge}}2. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|url=http://www.becco.co.kr/Business/businesslist.asp?BusId=29&page=2&item=020104 |script-title=ko:토목사업 주요실적 |work=Byucksan Engineering & Construction |year=2005 |language=Korean |accessdate=1 January 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140102192819/http://www.becco.co.kr/Business/businesslist.asp?BusId=29&page=2&item=020104 |archivedate=2 January 2014 |df= }} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://terms.naver.com/entry.nhn?docId=556532&cid=1602&categoryId=1602|script-title=ko:반포대교|work=Naver / Encyclopedia of Korean Culture|publisher=Naver|language=Korean|accessdate=2 January 2014}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.metro.seoul.kr/kor2000/hanriver/bridge/bdg10.html|script-title=ko:반포대교 (盤浦大橋)|work=Seoul Metro|year=2000|publisher=Seoul Metropolitan Government|language=Korean|accessdate=2 January 2014}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://structurae.net/structures/data/index.cfm?ID=s0006573|title=Banpo Grand Bridge|date=10 July 2013|work=Structurae|publisher=Wilhelm Ernst & Sohn Verlag.|accessdate=22 April 2009}} 6. ^What's Happening Visit Korea, retrieved February 4, 2010 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://hangang.seoul.go.kr/archives/474|title=달빛무지개분수(반포)|date=25 August 2017|publisher=Seoul Metropolitan Government|language=Korean|accessdate=2 December 2017}} 5 : Bridges in Seoul|Buildings and structures in Seoul|Bridges completed in 1982|Bridges over the Han River (Korea)|1982 establishments in South Korea |
