Here he was scouted by FC Den Bosch. At the age of 16, he joined FC Den Bosch's first squad.[3] He moved on to FC Utrecht in 2008.[3] He scored FC Utrecht's fourth goal in their 4-0 win over Celtic in their Europa League play-off win in August 2010.[4] The development of a long-lasting injury to his back which also affected his left calf muscle caused Maguire to miss games and eventually have to move to less challenging leagues, in the hope of regaining his fitness. He joined Norwegian team Sarpsborg 08 FF in the summer of 2015.[5] Maguire moved from local club TEC to Limerick in February 2018. [6] During his time at the club, which was struggling to avoid relegation for most of the season, he managed to become the one of the team's highest scorers, with most of his goals coming from late runs into the box. In January 2019 it was announced that Maguire had joined Singapore Premier League club Geylang International.[7] International careerMaguire represented the Republic of Ireland Under-16 and the Netherlands Under-19 teams, since his father is Irish,[3] Maguire can still represent either the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland at senior competitive level.[3] On 27 January 2009, Barry Maguire was called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad for the first time,[8] but he rejected the invitation the following day.[9] In September 2010 he declared himself eager to represent Ireland.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite news|url=http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/dutch-ace-maguire-is-keen-to-go-green-2329641.html|title=Dutch ace Maguire is keen to go Green|publisher=Evening Herald|date=8 September 2010|accessdate=9 September 2010}} 2. ^Barry Maguire nieuwe aanwinst TEC‚ stadtiel.nl, 10 January 2017 3. ^1 2 3 Irish must play green card Irish Independent, 16 July 2008 4. ^FC Utrecht 4 - 0 Celtic (agg 4 - 2) BBC Sport, 26 August 2010 5. ^{{cite news|title=Maguire klar for Sarpsborg 08|last=Karlsen|first=Pål Andre|date=28 July 2015|work=Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad|page=25|language=Norwegian}} 6. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.limerickleader.ie/news/sport/299018/limerick-fc-sign-dutch-youth-international.html#.WpLT6TmvdRA.facebook|title=Limerick FC agree deal with Dutch Youth International|last=Cuneen|first=Andrew|date=25 February 2018|publisher=Limerick Leader|}} 7. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.limerickleader.ie/news/sport/359109/limerick-fc-star-signs-for-top-singapore-club.html|title=Limerick FC star signs for top Singapore club|last=Kinsella|first=Colm|date=22 January 2019|publisher=Limerick Leader|}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3952&Itemid=9|title=Givens names strong squad for U-21 friendly v Germany|publisher=Football Association of Ireland|date=27 January 2009|accessdate=3 February 2009}} 9. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/3123343/__Maguire_wijst_Ierland_af__.html|title=Maguire wijst Ierland af|publisher=De Telegraaf|date=29 January 2009|accessdate=4 February 2009| archiveurl= https://web.archive.org/web/20090131235628/http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/3123343/__Maguire_wijst_Ierland_af__.html| archivedate= 31 January 2009 | deadurl= no}} External links
