Prior to 2011 Basirhat had one assembly constituency. From 2011 it will have two constituencies Basirhat Dakshin and Basirhat Uttar Vidhan Sabha constituencies. Hasnabad (Vidhan Sabha constituency) ceases to exist from 2011.
