BCR (Beijing City Rail) also known as Beijing Suburban Railway is a commuter rail service that connects urban Beijing with outlying districts beyond the reach of the city's Beijing Subway network. The suburban rail services run on existing China Railway lines.

The suburban rail services are managed by the Beijing Railway Bureau, an agency of the Ministry of Railways that is not affiliated with the Beijing Mass Transit Railway Operation Corp., Ltd, the municipal company that operates the subway.

There are 3 suburban railway corridor currently in operation: Line S2, Sub-Central line and Huairou–Miyun line.

Route changes in 2016

S2 (main line and branch line) — was diverted from Beijingbei (North), at Huangtudian on 1 November 2016.

Planned

Jingyuan line (京原线), a commuter rail linking Fangshan District with Beijing South railway station in Fengtai District.^[1] It will run on the Beijing–Yuanping railway (Jingyuan railway, 京原铁路).

Menda line (门大线), a commuter rail inside Mentougou District.^[2] It will run on the Beijing–Mentougou railway (Jingmen railway, 京门铁路).
