Bernard Ireland was a British retired naval engineer, editor of Jane's and writer on naval matters.[1]Ireland was educated at the Royal Dockyard School, Portsmouth and at the University of Southampton. He worked for the Royal Naval Scientific Service, in ship research. He wrote nearly thirty books and contributed to journals and partworks on subjects related to ships and naval campaigns.
