GameplayThe player controls one of the three main protagonists and may switch between them during play. The characters progresses from right to left – an unusual orientation in this genre of game[3] – fighting oncoming enemies. Initially, the three characters fight unarmed, but each has a weapon of choice that can be collected. Jack Burton can use a gun with limited ammunition, and Wang Chi can wield swords which eventually break. The third character, Egg Shen, initially fires weak magic bolts which improve with range and strength when he finds a magic potion.[3] ReceptionBig Trouble in Little China received diverse critical reception. Your Sinclair awarded 8 out of 10, highlighting smooth scrolling and good sprite animation, only criticising the unbalanced difficulty with some enemies.[4] In a later retrospective on tie-in licences, Your Sinclair found the animation to be poor, with little variety in enemy types, and amended their score to 52%.[5] Conversely, Sinclair User gave only 1 star out of 5, describing the characters as poorly depicted, with no atmosphere or sound effects.[6]References1. ^{{mobygames|id=/big-trouble-in-little-china}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Big Trouble In Little China (Video Game)}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000519|title=Big Trouble in Little China|work=World of Spectrum|accessdate=2009-04-28}} 3. ^{{cite journal|journal=CRASH|title=Big Trouble in Little China review|date=May 1987|page=121}} 4. ^{{cite journal|journal=Your Sinclair|title=Big Trouble in Little China review|url=http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/bigtroubleinlittlechina.htm|author=Lee, Tony|date=June 1987|issue=18|access-date=2009-04-29|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090319093910/http://ysrnry.co.uk/articles/bigtroubleinlittlechina.htm|archive-date=2009-03-19|dead-url=yes|df=}} 5. ^1 {{cite journal|url=http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/completeguidetofilmtvlicences.htm|title=The YS Complete Guide to Film and TV Licences|author=Davies, Jonathan|date=December 1990|issue=60|journal=|access-date=2009-04-29|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090411102609/http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/completeguidetofilmtvlicences.htm|archive-date=2009-04-11|dead-url=yes|df=}} 6. ^{{cite journal|journal=Sinclair User|issue=63|page=62|author=Moss, Andy|date=June 1987|title=Big Trouble in Little China review|quote=Billed as a shoot 'em, zap 'em, hack 'em game, it is an extremely lame example of this genre.
