It is under the jurisdiction of Greenville County School District. Blue Ridge's marching band, the "Corps of Cadets", has been State champion eight times.[2] The school's chorus is a three-time state champion.{{cn|date=January 2019}} In the 2018-2019 school year, Blue Ridge had 1,148 students[3] and 65 teachers.[4] Of those students, 89% were White, 4.2% were Hispanic, and 3.9 African-American,[3] 39.4% of students were deemed to be under the federal poverty line, 13.7% were receiving special education, and 16.4% were in gifted and talented programs. The annual dropout rate was 1.8%.[5] The student to teacher ratio,18:1,is higher than the state average of 16:1.[6] HistoryBlue Ridge High School opened in 1954, as a consolidation of Jordan and Mountain View High Schools. The population of the area grew as the region changed from its rural, agrian origins, and a new school site was purchased in 1971; however, the new high school did not open until 1986. The original site of Blue Ridge High School is now Blue Ridge Middle School.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/bridgehs/main.asp?titleid=history|title=Blue Ridge High School - History|publisher=Greenville County Schools|accessdate=November 14, 2018}} {{SouthCarolina-school-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.brhscorpsofcadets.com|title=BRHS Corps of Cadets|website=www.brhscorpsofcadets.com|accessdate=November 14, 2018}} 3. ^1 [https://www.schooldigger.com/go/SC/schools/0231000561/school.aspx Blue Ridge High] Retrieved November 14, 2018. 4. ^https://ed.sc.gov/data/report-cards/historic-school-report-cards/2016/view/ 5. ^{{cite news|author=Andrew Mundhenk|date=April 9, 2018|url=http://www.blueridgenow.com/news/20180409/dropout-rate-increases-at-4-henderson-county-high-schools|title=Dropout rate increases at 4 Henderson County high schools|accessdate=November 14, 2018}} 6. ^[https://www.publicschoolreview.com/blue-ridge-high-school-profile/29651 Blue Ridge High School] Public School Review.
