As a 501(c)3 non-profit, the foundation aims to be a significant repository of BMW information and to foster educational programs for the automotive community. Three programs have been established to accomplish this:
The Driver Safety School ProgramThe Driver Safety Program promotes and conducts driving programs to improve the car handling skills of young drivers, especially teenagers, with the aim of reducing accidents. This program is headlined by the “Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving School” that is conducted in various parts of the U.S. Additionally, this program features Car Control Clinics for drivers of all ages to learn the dynamics of their cars in emergency situations in a safe and controlled environment. Through 2013, over 1000 schools have been conducted with over 23,000 participants.[1] The Library, Archives and Museum ProgramThe Library, Archives and Museum Program is a repository of BMW-related historical documents, literature, automobiles and memorabilia. BMW CCA members and the general public have access to rare and interesting BMW artifacts. This archive is housed in Greer, South Carolina near the BMW CCA national office, the BMW manufacturing plant and the BMW performance center. The Conservation and Preservation ProgramThe Conservation and Preservation Program supports programs to maintain the 50,000+ artifacts belonging to the foundation and to support BMW enthusiasts with knowledge and information to conserve and preserve their collections.
