It consists of the house built of narrow courses of flat cut stones, a frame bank barn on a stone foundation, and a small frame shed. The {{frac|2|1|2}}-story house with an exposed basement was built about 1800, and reflects the Germanic influence typical of the region in the period.[2] The Bowlus Mill House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://mht.maryland.gov/secure/medusa/PDF/NR_PDFs/NR-1159.pdf |title=National Register of Historic Places Registration: Bowlus Mill House |date=November 1994 |accessdate=January 1, 2016 |author=Paula S.
