词条 | Breathing (memorial sculpture) |
释义 |
The memorial was officially unveiled on 16 June 2008 by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. The sculpture is by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, working in collaboration with the Broadcasting House architect Sir Richard MacCormac and his team at MJP Architects.,[3] Modus Operandi public art consultants and the engineers Whitby Bird & Partners. It was commissioned and selected as a result of an international competition for the BBC's public art scheme. The shape of the sculpture is inspired by the spire of the adjoining All Souls Church, and the radio mast on the roof of Broadcasting House. The architecture critic Ellis Woodman, of Building Design magazine, called Breathing the "most misconceived public artwork in London since the Queen Mother's gates".[4] References1. ^{{cite web | url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7456036.stm | title=Killed reporter's memorial opens | accessdate=16 June 2008 | work=BBC News | date=16 June 2008}} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/broadcastinghouse/memorial/sculpture.shtml | title=New broadcasting House-Memorial | accessdate=16 June 2008}} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2008/06_june/16/breathing.shtml| title=BBC Press Release : Breathing – a new sculpture for Broadcasting House| accessdate=16 June 2008 | work=BBC Press Office | date=16 June 2008}} 4. ^{{citation|url=https://www.theguardian.com/media/2006/mar/26/broadcasting.bbc|title=£4m price tag of BBC art collection|work=The Observer|first=Antony|last=Barnett|date={{date|2006-3-26}}|accessdate={{date|2017-5-10}}}} External links
