Brestovăț first appears in written history as Breztolcz in 1440. From 1723–25 it was known as Preztovaz. It is composed of five villages: Brestovăț, Coșarii (Kizdia), Hodoș (Temeshódos), Lucareț (Lukarec) and Teș (Tésfalu). References
