The island is a member of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and lies north of Cape Murchison, opposite the Cumberland Peninsula. GeographyBrevoort Island, with an area of {{convert|271|km2|abbr=on}}, is {{convert|46|km|abbr=on}} in length, and {{convert|5|–|7|km|abbr=on}} in width.
