It is the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Bududa District. LocationBududa is on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Elgon, approximately {{convert|36|km|0}}, by road, south-east of Mbale, the largest city in the Bugisu sub-region.[1] This is about {{convert|260|km|0}}, by road, north-east of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda.[2] The town is located within Mount Elgon National Park. The coordinates of Bududa town are 01°00'36.0"N, 34°19'54.0"E (Latitude:1.010011; Longitude:34.331663).[3] OverviewBududa is {{convert|1300|m|ft}} above sea level, inside the Mt Elgon Range.
