Burton F. Becker was the police chief of Piedmont, California in the early 20th century.^[1] He joined the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan^[1] and was elected Sheriff of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office in Alameda County in 1926.^[1] In 1930, after years of investigation by Alameda County District Attorney Earl Warren,^[1] he was tried and convicted on corruption charges,^[2] removed from office and sent to San Quentin Prison.^[3]
