The Canadian University Dubai, popularly known as CUD, is a private university of higher education in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, founded in 2006. The Canadian University Dubai offers education based on the Canadian curriculum.

Programs are offered within 6 different schools, with some programs such as in the School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology leading to future opportunities as researchers within the University. Canadian University Dubai has an Office of Research Services that is networked with engineering research centres in Canada. Canadian University Dubai serves students from over 100 countries and offers them a Canadian-style education.

Schools

Canadian University Dubai has five schools within it. While graduate programs are offered separately. The schools and all of the programs offered have both Canada and United Arab Emirates accreditation.

School of Architecture and Interior Design

The School of Architecture and Interior Design^[1] offers two Bachelor programs; Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, and Bachelor of Architecture. Both degrees in this School take approximately 4–5 years, and the first two years of study are the same within the school, allowing students the flexibility of changing between programs should they choose prior to the commencement of the third year.

School of Business Administration

The School of Business Administration ^[2] offers five programs, four of which are four year programs, categorized under the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with differing specialists; Marketing, Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance and E-Business. An associate degree in Marketing is also available as a 2-year program.

School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology

The School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology ^[3] offers two specialist degrees; Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering, and Bachelor of Computer and Networking Engineering Technology.

School of Environment and Health Sciences

The School of Environment and Health Sciences^[4] offers two major degrees that train individuals to be proactive and capable even prior to their Masters, the degrees available are; Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health Management and Bachelor of Science in Health Organization Management.

School of Communication and Media Studies

The School of Communication and Media Studies ^[5] offers studies in three different fields, Journalism, Public relations and Advertising, for now however, three degrees, two of which are the same in content but are either achieved in English or Arabic. The Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree is available in the English or Arabic languages and will possibly be increased in the near future. The third degree is a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Translation.^[6]

School of Graduate Studies

Canadian University Dubai Learning Research Centre

The Learning Resource Center is located at the ground floor of Building A of the university campus.

The LRC houses over 10,000 print collection including books, journals and newspapers and a wide range of electronic resources; access to over 52,000 e-journals, over 494,000 e-books, 16,000 electronic videos, 2 million electronic images, access to 1.4 million titles of electronic Theses/Dissertations, over 300,000 accesses to Company Reports and Data. These electronic resources can be access on and off campus 24/7.

LRC holds a series of information literacy to all CUD students and faculty every semester. CUD-LRC has an agreement with British Library that provides interlibrary loan whenever information required by the students and faculty is not available in the LRC.

LRC use the Library of Congress Classification. Computers and Wifi connections are available within the premises. There is also photocopying and printing services available in the LRC.^[7]

History

Canadian University Dubai was originally known as Centennial University of Dubai, but was then changed to Canadian University Dubai once it became an independent Canadian institution, however, it still maintains its ties with the original Ontario based university and offers students transfer programs after their second year.^[10]
