In his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings in 1991, Jenkins made one interception, returning it for the single touchdown of his career. During the 1993 NFL season, the Vikings' defensive coordinator, Tony Dungy, remarked that Jenkins was "on his way to becoming an outstanding outside linebacker".[4] In 1995, the St. Louis Rams signed Jenkins as a free agent to replace linebacker Joe Kelly.[5] At the time, head coach Rich Brooks complimented Jenkins on his "youth, speed and NFL experience", characterizing him as a "big-play production guy and an impact hitter".[6] In 1997, Jenkins joined the San Francisco 49ers, but was waived.[7][8] Personal lifeAn only child, Jenkins was raised in Florida, where his mother worked for IBM.[4] In early 1993, while in Tampa, Florida, Jenkins suffered a motorcycle accident. According to Jenkins, he had been riding his Suzuki 1100 without a helmet at approximately seventy miles an hour when a displaced manhole cover caused him to fly off his motorcycle.[4] The accident resulted in friction burns on fifteen percent of his body.[4] "Things had been moving so fast and I lived fast," remarked Jenkins after the accident. "The accident brought everything to a halt."[4] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Carlos Jenkins, OLB at NFL.com|publisher=National Football League|url=http://www.nfl.com/player/carlosjenkins/2501379/profile|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} {{Vikings1991DraftPicks}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Jenkins, Carlos}}2. ^{{cite web|title=1990 Michigan State Spartans Football Roster |publisher=Lost Lettermen |url=http://www.lostlettermen.com/michigan_state-football-big_10/1990/ |accessdate=September 25, 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120905030836/http://www.lostlettermen.com/michigan_state-football-big_10/1990/ |archivedate=September 5, 2012 |df= }} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Carlos Jenkins Statistics|publisher=Sports-Reference.com|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/carlos-jenkins-1.html|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} 4. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite news|title=Wreck Slows Viking's Life Cycle|first=Curt|last=Brown|date=October 24, 1993|newspaper=Minneapolis Star Tribune|url=http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1993-10-24/sports/9310240410_1_skin-graft-linebacker-carlos-jenkins-bike|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Pro Football Daily Report: NFC / Ex-Ram Kelly Joins Packers|newspaper=Los Angeles Times|date=August 26, 1995|url=http://articles.latimes.com/1995-08-26/sports/sp-38982_1_jim-kelly|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=NFL Will Huddle Up Again Over Rams|newspaper=The Philadelphia Inquirer|date=March 31, 1995|url=http://articles.philly.com/1995-03-31/sports/25700865_1_rams-president-john-shaw-stan-kroenke-minority-purchase|accessdate=September 26, 2012}} 7. ^{{cite news|title=Redskins Fight It Out|newspaper=Los Angeles Times|date=August 20, 1997|url=http://articles.latimes.com/1997/aug/20/sports/sp-24149|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} 8. ^{{cite news|title=Transactions|newspaper=The New York Times|date=August 20, 1997|url=https://www.nytimes.com/1997/08/20/sports/transactions-709387.html:http:/www.nytimes.com/1997/08/20/sports/transactions-709387.html|accessdate=September 25, 2012}} 8 : 1968 births|Living people|Sportspeople from Palm Beach, Florida|Players of American football from Florida|American football linebackers|Michigan State Spartans football players|Minnesota Vikings players|St. Louis Rams players |
