It grows to about 38 cm (15 inches) in length and weighs {{convert|380|to|620|g|oz|abbr=on}}.[1] This bird lives mostly in trees. It is a member of the family Cracidae, and is endemic to north central Brazil. It was considered a subspecies of the little chachalaca.
