Later it became a parish for Italian and then Hispanic immigrants.[1][3] BuildingOur Lady of Sorrows was built 1867-1868 in the Victorian, Byzantine Revival, and Romanesque Revival style by Henry Engelbert. Archbishop John McCloskey dedicated the church on September 6, 1868.[1] SchoolThe parish school was among 27 closed by the Archdiocese under the Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan in January 2011.[4][5] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 Our Lady of Sorrows Church Organs {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20101223103747/http://nycago.org/Organs/NYC/html/OurLadySorrows.html |date=2010-12-23 }} (Accessed 14 January 2011) {{Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York|state=collapsed}}{{coord|40|43|8.68|N|73|58|56.78|W|region:US|display=title}}2. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=qO0bAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA390&lpg=PA390&dq=San+Salvatore%2BChurch%2BManhattan&source=bl&ots=L-2tZgKYis&sig=UHM-sdTdh5FUzN-dD-XXRhY_iQE&hl=en&ei=IcvaTZi7BuTo0QH80sj8Aw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CE0Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=San%20Salvatore%2BChurch%2BManhattan&f=false The World Almanac 1892 and Book of Facts] (New York: Press Publishing, 1892), p.390. 3. ^Remigius Lafort, S.T.D., Censor, [https://books.google.com/books?id=KL4YAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA361 The Catholic Church in the United States of America: Undertaken to Celebrate the Golden Jubilee of His Holiness, Pope Pius X.
