They have a bronze-black colour marked with pale yellow, adult males are strongly pruinescent - their bodies and tip of their tails are covered with a fine, white, powdery layer.[5] They are only found in south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales, inhabiting creeks and streams, swampy areas, boggy seepages and lakes,[6] and will often rest on the lower parts of plants. Like other flatwing damselflies, coastal flatwings rest with their wings open flat, though females will sometimes rest with their wings closed. Males and females mate in a wheel position. They are not skittish and will allow people to approach closely.[7] GalleryReferences{{Commons}}1. ^{{cite journal | author = Dow, R.A. |title = Griseargiolestes albescens | journal = IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume = 2017 | page = e.T87532245A87534011 | publisher = IUCN | date = 2017 | url = http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/87532245/0 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2017-1.RLTS.T87532245A87534011.en | access-date = 11 December 2017}} {{Taxonbar | from=Q1942078 }}2. ^{{Cite journal|last=Tillyard|first=R.J.|year=1913|title=On some new and rare Australian Agrionidae (Odonata)|url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/2903646|journal=Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales|volume=37 |issue=1912|pages=404–479 [414]|via=Biodiversity Heritage Library}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://biodiversity.org.au/afd/taxa/Griseargiolestes_albescens |title=Species Griseargiolestes albescens (Tillyard, 1913)|last=|first=|date=2012|website=Australian Faunal Directory|publisher=Australian Biological Resources Study|access-date=13 April 2017}} 4. ^{{Cite book|title=The Complete Field Guide to Dragonflies of Australia|last=Theischinger|first=Günther|last2=Hawking|first2=John|publisher=CSIRO Publishing|year=2006|isbn=978 0 64309 073 6|location=Collingwood, Victoria, Australia|pages=48|quote=}} 5. ^{{Cite book|title=The Australian Dragonflies: A Guide to the Identification, Distributions and Habitats of Australian Odonata|last=Watson|first=J.A.L.|last2=Theischinger|first2=G.|last3=Abbey|first3=H.M.|publisher=CSIRO|year=1991|isbn=0643051368|location=Melbourne|pages=|quote=}} 6. ^{{cite book|title=Identification Guide to the Australian Odonata|last2=Endersby|first2=Ian|date=2009|publisher=Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW|isbn=978 1 74232 475 3|pages=215|last1=Theischinger|first1=Gunther|url=http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/publications/09730AustOdonata.pdf}} 7. ^http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_dragons/CoastalFlatWing.htm Brisbane Insects: Coastal Flatwing Damselfly - Griseargiolestes albescens 2 : Megapodagrionidae|Insects described in 1913 |
