释义 |
The son of William Draper and Jane Stanley,[2] Draper was born in St. Mary's, Ontario, and became a farmer in Elgin, Manitoba.[2] He served from 1915 to 1918 in France during World War I,[2] and achieved the rank of Sgt. Major. His older son, Clarence Oscar Draper, was killed in action during World War II.[3] Draper was elected to the Manitoba legislature in a by-election held on June 27, 1955,[1] defeating Liberal-Progressive candidate Robert E. Moffat by almost 700 votes in the constituency of Deloraine-Glenwood. He did not seek re-election in the 1958 provincial election, in which the Progressive Conservatives won a minority government. He died in Winnipeg at the age of 65.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.gov.mb.ca/hansard/members/mla_bio_deceased.html#D0 |title=MLA Biographies - Deceased |work=Legislative Assembly of Manitoba |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140330155427/http://www.gov.mb.ca/hansard/members/mla_bio_deceased.html |archivedate=2014-03-30 }} {{DEFAULTSORT:Draper, Albert}}2. ^Winnipeg Free Press, 28 June 1955, pp. 1, 4. 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/collections/virtualmem/Detail/2080287 |title=Clarence Oscar Draper |work=Canadian Virtual War Memorial |publisher=Veterans Affairs Canada |accessdate=2013-08-19}} 4. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=http://www.mhs.mb.ca/docs/people/draper_ae.shtml |work=Memorable Manitobans |title=Albert Earl Draper (1895-1963) |publisher=Manitoba Historical Society |accessdate=2013-08-19}} 3 : 1897 births|1963 deaths|Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba MLAs |
