释义 |
Coopey Falls is a waterfall on Coopey Creek in the Columbia River Gorge, on the Historic Columbia River Highway in Multnomah County, Oregon.[1][2] The falls is a horsetail waterfall with a drop of {{convert|150|ft|m}}. The falls was named after Charles Coopey, who once owned the land adjacent to the falls.[1] Simon Benson bought Wahkeena Falls from Coopey, an English tailor who had wanted to use the water from Wahkeena Falls to power a woolen mill for spinning and weaving, and for wool scouring.[3] Coopey Falls is on private property behind a convent owned by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist.[1] The sisters invite visitors to view the falls by following a path leading from the parking lot in front of the convent, after first asking permission.[1] A view of the falls is also accessible from the Angels's Rest trailhead half mile west of the convent.[1] The falls are located one mile (1.6 km) east of Bridal Veil Falls.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 Northwest Waterfalls Survey {{Waterfalls of Oregon}}{{coord|45|33|44|N|122|09|57|W|display=title|type:landmark_scale:2000}}{{MultnomahCountyOR-geo-stub}}2. ^{{GNIS|1140085}} 3. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.trailsclub.org/about-us/specials/founding.htm |title= The History of the Founding of the Trails Club of Oregon}} 5 : Waterfalls of Oregon|Columbia River Gorge|Historic Columbia River Highway|Waterfalls of Multnomah County, Oregon|Horsetail waterfalls |
