Bog species include round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) and narrowleaf gentian (Gentiana linearis).[5] The swamp is also home to the southernmost natural community of larches.[5] FaunaIn addition to black bear, porcupine, snowshoe hare and a wide variety of birds, the rare northern water shrew has been documented here. Birders have also noted the golden-crowned kinglet and Nashville warbler, rarely seen in this area.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Cranesville Swamp Preserve|url=https://www.protectedplanet.net/cranesville-swamp-fee-private-conservation-land|website=Protected Planet|publisher=IUCN|accessdate=1 May 2018}} {{Protected Areas of West Virginia}}2. ^{{Cite web| url = http://gisdata.usgs.gov/xmlwebservices2/elevation_service.asmx/getElevation?X_Value=-79.481944&Y_Value=39.531389&Elevation_Units=FEET&Source_Layer=-1&Elevation_Only=FALSE| title = Cranesville Swamp| work = Elevation Query| accessdate = 2009-03-08| publisher = U.S. Geological Survey}} 3. ^1 2 {{Cite web|url=http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/wildlife/cranesvi.htm|title=Cranesville Swamp|publisher=West Virginia University Extension Service|accessdate=2009-02-26}} 4. ^{{cite journal|last= Fuller|first= KB|author2=Frank, PS Jr.|date=Autumn 1974|title= The Cranesville Pine Swamp|journal= Atlantic Naturalist|volume= 29|series= 3|pages= 101–105|url= http://md1.csa.com/partners/viewrecord.php?requester=gs&collection=ENV&recid=7809107&q=Cranesville+swamp&uid=1067078&setcookie=yes|accessdate= 2009-03-04}} 5. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 {{Cite web |url=http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/westvirginia/preserves/art1202.html |title=Cranesville Swamp Preserve |publisher=The Nature Conservancy |accessdate=2009-02-26 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/5f8Ol6tsI?url=http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/westvirginia/preserves/art1202.html |archivedate=2009-03-09 |deadurl=yes |df= }} 6. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.nature.nps.gov/nnl/Registry/USA_Map/States/Maryland/NNL/CS/index.cfm |title=Cranesville Swamp Nature Sanctuary |publisher=National Park Service |accessdate=2009-03-02}} 7. ^{{Cite book|last=Colbert|first=Judy|title=Maryland and Delaware: Off the Beaten Path : a Guide to Unique Places|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=lYny4tkhFgkC&printsec=frontcover#PPA10,M1|format=|accessdate=2009-03-05|edition=8, Illustrated|year=2004|publisher=Globe Pequot|isbn=0-7627-4418-9|page=10}} 13 : Appalachian bogs|Bogs of Maryland|Bogs of West Virginia|Protected areas of Preston County, West Virginia|Protected areas of Garrett County, Maryland|Nature Conservancy preserves|Nature reserves in Maryland|Nature reserves in West Virginia|National Natural Landmarks in Maryland|National Natural Landmarks in West Virginia|Landforms of Preston County, West Virginia|Landforms of Garrett County, Maryland|IUCN Category V |
