One of many wax museums in the region, it was located at the top of Clifton Hill.[1] The museum featured forty wax statues of notorious criminals, from mobsters to serial killers. The museum was created in 1977[2] and closed late 2014. In 2002, columnist Gene Collier of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette characterized the museum as "a cheesy little monument to brutality,"[3] while in 2005, the same paper's Dennis Roddy called it "a garish little exhibit."[4] In 2003, the Boston Herald dubbed it "tacky."[5] In 2010, Doug Kirby's roadsideamerica.com noted in its review that the museum had "more gore than most horror wax museums and better lighting, too," which it took as "a good indication that this attraction is drawing enough of a crowd to pay its electric bill."[6] StatuesAmong the museum's featured criminals are contemporary serial killers such as Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and Charles Manson, which are interspersed with infamous historical figures like Billy the Kid, Pretty Boy Floyd, Clyde Chestnut Barrow, Lucky Luciano, Jesse James, Al Capone and Elizabeth Báthory.[6][7] In 1999, the figure of Adolf Hitler was stolen from its glass case.[8][9] References1. ^{{cite news |title=Wax Museums:Niagara's Other Wonder |first=Harry |last=Farra |newspaper=Beaver County Times |date=2 November 1980 |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=cFkuAAAAIBAJ&sjid=1dkFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1528,283042&dq=criminals-hall-of-fame+wax&hl=en |accessdate=6 August 2010}} {{coord|43.091879|-79.076516|display=title}}2. ^{{cite web|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140222233107/http://www.criminalshalloffame.com/about.php |archivedate=22 February 2014 |url=http://www.criminalshalloffame.com/about.php |title=About the Criminals Hall of Fame Museum |website= www.criminalshalloffame.com |accessdate=4 July 2017}} 3. ^{{cite news |title=Road to redemption can't erase that night drive |first=Gene |last=Collier |newspaper=Pittsburgh Post-Gazette |date=3 July 2002 |url=http://www.post-gazette.com/columnists/20020703gene6.asp |accessdate=6 August 2010}} 4. ^{{cite news | title = Canadian-born killers | date = 10 July 2005 | first = Dennis | last = Roddy | newspaper= Pittsburgh Post-Gazette | url = http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05191/535304-156.stm | accessdate = 6 August 2010}} 5. ^{{cite news | title = Step by step, you too will embrace thrilling Niagara Falls | last = Kramer | first = Lauren | date = 13 February 2003 | accessdate = 6 August 2010 | quote = ...few come for the city itself which is cheesy beyond belief replete with motels advertising red heartshaped hot tubs and tacky attractions such as the Criminals Hall of Fame Wax Museum. | url = https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/bostonherald/access/289096651.html?dids=289096651:289096651&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Feb+13%2C+2003&author=Lauren+Kramer&pub=Boston+Herald&desc=Step+by+step%2C+you+too+will+embrace+thrilling+Niagara+Falls&pqatl=google | work = Boston Herald}} 6. ^1 {{cite web | url = http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/4493 | title = Criminals Hall Of Fame Wax Museum | work = roadsideamerica.com | accessdate = 6 August 2010}} 7. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.criminalshalloffame.com/criminals.php | title = The Criminals | publisher = Criminals Hall of Fame Wax Museum | accessdate = 6 August 2010}} 8. ^{{cite news | title = Wax figure of Hitler disappears | work = Toronto Star | date = 7 April 1999 | page = 1 | url = https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/thestar/access/427434141.html?dids=427434141:427434141&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=Apr+07%2C+1999&author=&pub=Toronto+Star&desc=Wax+figure+of+Hitler+disappears&pqatl=google | accessdate = 6 August 2010}} 9. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.roadsideamerica.com/news/5472 | publisher = roadsideamerica.com | date = 18 April 1999 | title = Wax Hitler Stolen from Hall of Criminals | accessdate = 6 August 2010}} 5 : Museums established in 1977|Museums in Niagara Falls, Ontario|Wax museums|Halls of fame in Canada|Crime in Ontario |
