A Wales national representative {{rlp|so}}, he played his club rugby for Widnes,[2] Barrow, Swinton,[3] Runcorn Highfield and Springfield Borough.[1][4] CareerBorn in Wales to a Welsh mother and a Sierra Leonean father, Wilson played rugby union for Cardiff RFC as a fly-half before moving north to play professionally in rugby league. Wilson once scored five drop goals in a match for Swinton.[5] Wilson won five caps for Wales while at Swinton, in 1981–82 and 1984.[1] FamilyWilson is the father of former Manchester United and Wales footballer, and as of 2018 the Wales manager Ryan Giggs,[6][7] who was christened Ryan Joseph Wilson but as a teenager changed his surname to that of his mother.[6] Giggs is said to have inherited his balance and athleticism from his father.[6] [8]References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/players/danny-wilson/summary.html|title=Statistics at rugbyleagueproject.org|publisher=rugbyleagueproject.org|date=31 December 2017|accessdate=1 January 2018}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rugby.widnes.tv/search.php?q=Wilson|title=Statistics at rugby.widnes.tv|publisher=rugby.widnes.tv|date=31 December 2011|accessdate=1 January 2012}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.swintonlionsrlc.co.uk/04-pages/04-theclub/abriefhistory.html|title=A Brief History|publisher=swintonlionsrlc.co.uk (Swinton Lions)|year=2010|accessdate=13 August 2010}} 4. ^Graham Williams, Peter Lush, David Farrar (November 2009).
