Early life{{more citations needed|section|date=June 2018}}Deak was born in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (then part of SFR Yugoslavia), to Croat parents. He came to the United States during high school. The year that he was going to return to his country the Yugoslav Wars started which caused him to stay in USA. He was eighteen when he applied to the University of Mississippi and was accepted, with scholarship where he majored in Piano and Business. During the college years Deak started acting, doing extensive work in theatre. After he finished college, Deak worked as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch starting in St. Louis, Missouri and soon after relocating to Beverly Hills, California where he stayed until 2004 when he decided to leave the career in finance in order to pursue his passion for acting.[1] CareerHis acting career since 2004 has included parts in Hostage and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. After almost six years of roles in American TV shows and films, Deak gained Hollywood's attention by playing his first lead role of Nick Nemet in Dreamkiller (2010), an independent film that played theatrically for a rare long engagement of over 14 weeks.[2] Deak was one a contenders to play the lead role in the 2011 Conan the Barbarian remake.[3] Filmography
