He was articled to George Smith from 1828 to 1833. Five years later he entered into partnership with Wyatt, a partnership that lasted thirteen years until dissolved in 1851. He subsequently worked alone but took Samuel Tucker as an apprentice 1867 until before 1871. As a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects he is recorded as having proposed both John Macvicar Anderson and Henry Saxon Snell for Fellowship.[1] Brandon worked at a number of English country houses and churches, these include: Badminton House, Basildon Park, Bayham Abbey, Benenden House, Chilham Castle, Fonthill Abbey, Hemsted Park, Hensol Castle, Highnam Court, Hanley Castle and Williamstrip Park.[3] He is credited with Carmarthen's Joint Counties Lunatic Asylum (1865).[4] His ecclesiastical work includes restoration of St. Mary's Church, Atherstone in 1849, Holy Trinity Church at Markbeech, Kent (1852) and a private chapel at Bayham Abbey (1870).[5] Brandon died on 10 January 1897.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=http://www.scottisharchitects.org.uk/architect_full.php?id=204096 |title= DSA Architect Biography Report – David Brandon |publisher=Dictionary of Scottish Architects |first=David |last=Goold |accessdate=17 July 2013}} {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Brandon, David}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://nationalarchives.gov.uk/nra/searches/subjectView.asp?ID=P36758 |title=Brandon, David (1813–1897) Architect |publisher=The National Archives |accessdate= 28 June 2010}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.parksandgardens.ac.uk/component/option,com_parksandgardens/task,person/id,188/Itemid,293/ |title=Parks and Gardens UK |accessdate=28 June 2010}} 4. ^{{cite book|last1=Lloyd|first1=Thomas|last2=Orbach|first2=Julian|last3=Scourfield|first3=Robert|title=The Buildings of Wales: Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion|url=https://books.google.com.ar/books?id=wEkcJb2lHx8C&pg=PA142&dq=#v=onepage&q&f=false |year=2006 |publisher=Yale University Press |location=Newhaven and London |isbn=0-300-10179-1|page=142}} 5. ^{{cite book|last=Homan|first=Roger|title=The Victorian Churches of Kent|year=1984|publisher=Phillimore & Co.
