A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler, he made fourteen List A appearances for Lincolnshire County Cricket Club and over 100 minor counties appearances. An all-rounder, he has captained Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League side Bourne Cricket Club since 1996. CareerChristmas made his début for Lincolnshire in their second match of the 1989 Minor Counties Championship.[1] In a drawn match, he claimed one wicket and 42 runs.[2] He played regularly for the county between 1989 and 2005, and appeared in two Minor Counties Championship finals, both against Devon. In 2000, Christmas was part of the Lincolnshire side that beat Netherlands in the second round of the National Westminster Bank Trophy, before losing to a strong Lancashire side in the next round.[3] Christmas made a quick 26 off 24 balls from number nine in the third round match, before being caught off the bowling of India Test cricketer Sourav Ganguly.[4] Lancashire went on to be beaten by Gloucestershire in the semi-finals. His last game for Lincolnshire was against Staffordshire in 2005, since which he has appeared on three occasions for 'Lincolnshire Development Squad'.[5] He plays club cricket for Bourne Cricket Club, and has captained them since 1996.[6] They have been frequent top-half finishers in the Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League under his captaincy. He has been described by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph as Bourne Cricket Club's "heavyweight all-round skipper",[7] and a club legend.[8] Due to his surname, he is known as 'Father'.[9] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/9/9093/Minor_Counties_Championship_Matches.html |title=Minor Counties Championship Matches played by David Christmas (97) |publisher=CricketArchive |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/95/95199.html |title=Lincolnshire v Cumberland |date=13 June 1989 |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Ganguly's century dismisses brave challenge |work=The Independent |date=22 June 2000 |last=Culley |first=Jon}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/69/69959.html |title=Lincolnshire v Lancashire |publisher=CricketArchive |date=21 June 2000 |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/9/9093/Other_matches.html |title=Other matches played by David Christmas (20) |publisher=CricketArchive |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 6. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/cricketnews/Preview-Bridge-too-far-for.3989881.jp |title=Preview: Bridge too far for Deeping and Bourne |last=Swann |first=Alan |work=Peterborough Evening Telegraph |date=17 April 2008 |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 7. ^{{cite news |url=http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/Who39s-who-in-the-big.2981604.jp |title=Who's who in the big derby clash at the Abbey Lawns tonight |work=Peterborough Evening Telegraph |date=26 June 2007 |accessdate=10 December 2009}} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-180327446.html |title=It's another Christmas cracker in the Jaidka Cup |work=Peterborough Evening Telegraph |date=19 June 2008 |accessdate=10 December 2009}}{{dead link|date=February 2019|bot=medic}}{{cbignore|bot=medic}} 9. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/1915565.odds_and_bods/ |title=Odds and bods |work=The Northern Echo |last=Amos |first=Mike |date=19 December 2007 |accessdate=10 December 2009}} External links
